Responsible Sourcing and Procurement

All organisations source products and materials, make sure you are buying from responsible organisations, like yourselves.

Responsible Sourcing and Procurement

One of the biggest sustainability impacts for any organisation is their supply chain.  Whether you’re an organisation mainly buying stationary and paper, a large manufacturer buying lots of parts and components, or an independent fashion brand buying fabrics and making your own clothing, who you buy from can make a huge difference.

If you are using an irresponsible supply chain you may be contributing to these issues and it can attract undesirable media attention. You can reduce the impact of your supply chain by specifying particular certifications, products or reports to check you are sourcing from responsible organisations. These can be built into a pre-qualifying questionnaire or your contracts.

Your responsible sourcing and procurement strategy may include Chain of Custody, EUTR, WWF GFTN and training, which Totem Sustainability can also help you with.

Services and Experience

Totem Sustainability can help you identify which products you should focus on, how to improve the sourcing and the requirements you can add to your documentation.

We have experience of working closely with FSC, WWF, Grown in Britain and the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative. In addition, our consultants have experience of visiting and auditing many product suppliers to understand and assess their supply chain impacts.
